Aspen at Altitude: The World's Most Demanding Chauffeur Market
Aspen operates differently from every other luxury market in America. At 7,900 feet, in a small mountain town with one main street and strict vehicle protocols around its ski resorts, the requirements for a private chauffeur are unlike those of any urban center. FFGR has built its Aspen operation around these specific demands.
The Airport Question: ASE or EGE?
Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) is one of the most weather-sensitive airports in North America. Sitting in a valley between mountains, it is routinely closed by morning fog, low cloud, and wind events during ski season — particularly December through early February. The alternative is Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE), 70 miles west near Gypsum, which has significantly better weather reliability.
FFGR monitors both airports in real time throughout ski season. For morning arrivals between December and February, we typically recommend booking EGE as the primary arrival unless ASE weather is confirmed clear at least 24 hours in advance. Your chauffeur departs early enough to be at EGE regardless of the final routing decision.
The Winter Fleet
FFGR's Aspen winter fleet is all-wheel drive by design. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan — with its air suspension, terrain management, and AWD system — handles mountain roads in all conditions while delivering the luxury expected of the brand. The Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 complete the mountain fleet. Standard rear-wheel-drive berlines are not deployed in Aspen during ski season.
The Little Nell and Caribou Club Protocols
The Little Nell — ski-in ski-out at the base of Aspen Mountain — has specific vehicle positioning requirements at its Silver Circle entrance. FFGR has established protocols for timed arrivals that accommodate the hotel's valet operation during peak periods. The Caribou Club, Aspen's most exclusive private member institution, requires additional discretion in how arrivals are managed — our chauffeurs are briefed on the specific preferences of the institution.
Snowmass and the Mountain Circuit
Many FFGR Aspen clients divide their stay between Aspen proper and Snowmass Village — 12 miles and 1,000 feet apart in altitude. Daily resort transfers, dinner moves between the two communities, and the Snowmass Base Camp operations are standard FFGR work during ski season. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk transfers are managed with equal precision.
