Palm Beach: The American Riviera
Palm Beach Island is 16 miles long and less than a mile wide at its broadest point. It contains, by any measure, one of the most extraordinary concentrations of inherited and entrepreneurial wealth in the United States — most of it invisible behind gates and hedgerows on South Ocean Boulevard and the North End. Understanding Palm Beach requires understanding that it operates by different rules than any other American city.
The Season: December Through April
Palm Beach's social calendar runs from December through the end of April — the "season" that has defined the town's social rhythm for a century. The Breakers opens its Christmas programme in late November; Worth Avenue's galleries and boutiques reach their peak in January and February; the major charity galas (the Heart Ball, the Cancer Center Ball, the Society of the Four Arts Gala) fill March and early April. FFGR operates at maximum intensity during this window.
Worth Avenue and the Island Geography
Worth Avenue is Palm Beach's commercial spine — a quarter-mile of galleries, jewelers, private clubs, and boutiques that functions as the social center of the island. FFGR's Palm Beach operation understands Worth Avenue's pedestrian pace and the protocol around its most significant addresses. The south end of the island, where the grandest oceanfront estates sit, requires a different approach: discreet, quiet, unhurried.
The Everglades Club and the Member Institutions
The Everglades Club, the Bath and Tennis Club, and the Sailfish Club are Palm Beach's oldest and most selective private institutions. Arrivals at member clubs require a chauffeur who understands the culture of restraint that defines them — no photography, no lingering, absolute discretion. FFGR's Palm Beach team operates on these terms as a matter of course.
Beyond the Island
Jupiter Island, 25 miles north, is the residence of choice for a segment of Palm Beach's wealthiest families — a community so private that its roads are technically private property. FFGR manages Jupiter Island estate transfers with the same discreet standard as the Palm Beach Island service. Wellington's polo grounds, 45 minutes inland, become a regular destination between January and April during the winter polo season.
